“Loud Soul”
I will not shrink myself
become less
to fit into your mold.
I am a quiet person-
an introvert-
with a loud soul.
Take your money
and your expectations
and your small talk too.
I shouldn’t have to relate
or wear a false face
to get to these places
you say I should get to.
No.
I will not allow you
to build your walls around me.

Society is full of pressures. This particular poem is about being sick of feeling like you have to live or be a certain way to feel like you are successful. As an introvert, I often feel like I’m expected to put on an act and be more personable and bubbly than I am to be accepted. At the end of the day, if I have to be someone I’m not to “succeed”, then it’s not the kind of success that I want in life.
“Cat’s Mind”
My cat is so
content
with her simple life.
Perhaps I only
need
a simpler mind.

As a cat mom, I stare at my cat a lot. She’s cute, okay?! While I’m creepily staring at her as she sleeps, I often think of how content she looks. As a human, I don’t think she has much of a life. Eat, sleep, run around for 5 minutes, eat and sleep some more….
BUT, she seems happy. This got me thinking that perhaps it’s not that she doesn’t have much of a life, but that our minds are wired to expect so much more of our lives.
Which one was your favorite? What do they mean to you?
